The MTN Foundation has launched a youth-focused initiative with the aim of equipping Ugandan youths with needed skills and practical know-how that will enable them to proffer groundbreaking ICT solutions to community problems in this present digital world.
The goal of the MTN Youth Skilling Program 2021 is to train participants on skills that will accelerate the creation of innovative digital products and services.
These relevant skills would then be deployed in solving Uganda’s major challenges in Education, Health, Agriculture, and Youth Empowerment.
This scheme will be carried out in conjunction with Ubunifu systems, a Kenyan-based firm that specializes in software development and ICT.
Process
Application calls will be put out through MTN digital channels and 100 successful applicants will be picked to participate in the program.
Selected participants of the MTN Youth Skilling program will be sponsored to study and acquire the International Computer Driver’s License (ICDL) certificate. Only those that will have successfully acquired this certificate will move up to the next level.
At the next level, chosen candidates will participate in a 10-week session where they will be given hands-on training in business and technical skills that will enable them to identify, define, and solve community challenges.
The most innovative solutions to the challenges identified will be admitted into the MTN Incubation program where they will receive mentorship and support to deliver a public good ICT solution designed for their community.
