Milestone Records for Startups in the second edition of FbStart Accelerator Programme

Over $500,000 has been secured by startups taking part in the second edition of the FbStart Accelerator Programme.

The fund is coming in as grants and investments within three months of the program.

These figures indicate it has surpassed the aggregate amount raised by participating startups in the first season.

Other milestone achievements within the same three months recorded by these startups include;

  • Securing major partnership deals with existing companies
  • Creating essential products pivots
  • Creating distinctive products that fit in the choicest business process

These are according to a joint statement from Facebook and CcHUB.

Adaora Ikenze, Head of Public Policy for Anglophone West Africa at Facebook, said “The numbers speak for themselves, and further reinforces that the work and investments we are undertaking here in Nigeria are having a real impact,”

“At Facebook, we are passionate about helping developers and entrepreneurs to grow. We believe in empowering small businesses through our platforms to help more people launch and grow their businesses, which translates to real impact for their communities and local economies,” Ikenze emphasised.

The Accelerator Programme aims to give empower entrepreneurs and students in creating very applicable solutions to world challenges while leveraging advanced technologies.

During the six-month Accelerator programme, the startups will have access to industry experts and also how to leverage Data Science, Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Internet of Things (IoT).

15 startups consisting of entrepreneurs and student teams graduated from the first edition of the FbStart Accelerator Programme. Cumulatively, they have secured grants and investment worth more than $400, 000.

Currently, 12 startups are participating in the Accelerator programme and they are; Vmedkit, Vnts, Chekkit, Simbi Interactives, Curacel, Appruve, Spill-sat, Gradely, Gesal, InventOne, Vinsighte, Haurl.
