Wema Bank today in Lagos announced the launch of AlatPay a digital payment solution specially designed to support small and medium enterprises to digitize their operations.AlatPay will empower SMEs to acquire transactions and enhance their ability to carry out multiple financial activities.

Years ago, transactions were carried out with cash, but nowadays, transactions have been made quite easily with online transactions and this is what AlatPay is advancing. These were some initial thoughts echoed by Tunde Mabawonku, Executive Director of Retail and Digital Business, at Wema Bank as he delivered his keynote address.

As explained by Tunde, the world of payment is transitioning from cash to cashless. With new advances, the future of cards is fast becoming cardless because, with few taps on their phones, customers get their transactions executed in seconds.

“This for us is the future and we are proud to play a major role. Alatpay is positioning Nigerian merchants and SMEs to easily acquire transactions globally. The only way we can be here is to continuously innovate by creating projects that talk to the everyday SMEs in Nigeria because the growth of this economy relies on SMEs.”

“With Alat pay what you need is to follow a few steps and then acquire transactions anywhere in the world. You don’t have to expose your financial details, you have a payment gateway that makes transactions easy. We want to empower SMEs to do a lot more. Wema prides itself in being an innovative bank and we are big on launching innovative products because we are the foremost digital bank in Nigeria.”

Tunde said beyond the AlatPay digital payments platform, Wema Bank is offering additional packages including an SME toolkit, loan facilities, training and exposure for their customers.

Speaking on AlatPay’s value-added services, Damola Bolodeoku, Head of Payment.at Wema Bank mentioned the merchants’ ability to access its storefront seamlessly and obtain their transactions in any currency.

“Alat pay is designed to simplify payment processes for business, therefore we have a seamless integration process. As a digital bank, we are very interested in our customers using our products without issue. “Alat pay isn’t just a payment gateway but a comprehensive solution designed to support the success of businesses in Nigeria by offering diverse payment options, efficient settlements, and strong security measures”
