Ventures Platform (VP) is a carefully curated innovation hub where tech-enthusiasts, freelancers, start-up entrepreneurs, and professionals on the go, who share common attitudes, interests, and goals can meet, network and develop business that create solutions that solve pressing problems in our society.
Slush is Europe’s leading start up and technology event, which connects start-ups and tech talent with top-tier international investors, executives, and media. In 2015, Slush brought together 15,000 attendees from one hundred nations for the two-day event held in Helsinki, Finland.
Ventures Platform and Slush are currently partnered to organize a local competition for selecting the most innovative tech start-ups who will attend the 2016 Global Impact Accelerator (GIA) program in Helsinki, Finland on 30th November. The local competition will be a pitchathon; a platform for start-ups to pitch in front of an audience. This will take place on the 27th of August 2016 in Ventures Platform, 29 Mambilla Street, off Aso Drive, Abuja.
The GIA program offers start-ups online pre-mentoring program for all the selected participants, a boot camp program in Helsinki, Finland from 22nd November to 2nd December, skills workshops and capacity building with leaders from all around the world, industry specific matchmaking sessions co-organized with the leading organizations, and access to Slush 2016 investors and potential partners.
To be selected, start-ups must have a clear vision of solving pressing global challenges. This means that they must have created a business concept that will present a measurable positive impact on people, societies, or the world. There are no limitations in terms of sector or geographical focus.
Start-ups can be commercial or non-profit, but must have the potential to scale; with a business idea that has gained some traction, but can still be in an early phase. At least a working prototype is necessary, preferably with the IT focus.
The local competition is happening on the 27th August 2016. Application closes 12 August 2016. Apply Now here.
