Plug and Play a VC company based in Silicon Valley will open its first African office in Johannesburg, South Africa sometime late this year

The company is also launching a call for partners to assist the company in lending support to innovative African startups.

Founded in 2006, the VC firm executes accelerator programmes and innovative corporate services, as well as an in-house business based on venture capital involved in active investments.

More than 20,000 startups, 400 corporate partners, and 35 VC companies across the globe all make up the Plug and Play ecosystem.

With this recent development, the VC company now plans to link its vast ecosystem to the African continent with its oncoming launch in Johannesburg.

Back in 2018, Plug and Play hosted a corporate programme with Nedbank, but the VC firm is now ready to launch with partners in South Africa to assist it in supporting entrepreneurs for development.

Grace Legodi, Plug and Play Lead for South Africa office said, “Plug and Play chose South Africa because it has the most developed corporate sector on the African continent to effectively link with startups,”

“Our key value proposition in the venture capital segment has been as a global investor for startups that have global ambitions.

With an investment portfolio of over 900 active investments, we have the appetite to take a risk on entrepreneurs that are committed to taking a risk on themselves.”, she added
