For the past two years since we decided to start a tech blog, we have published Press Releases for free, not minding the fact that some of these press releases were more or less duplicate content and were not really adding much value to the platform.

One thing I can say for sure is that it takes a lot of resources, both human and material, to run and maintain a platform like Techsmart.ng. If I sum it up annually, then we are looking at some six figures or more. This is why it is imperative that we now change our strategy when it comes to dealing with brands, so that we can stay afloat, otherwise, all what you see will die a natural death.

I know that brands love freebies, but good things, except the ones given freely by God, don’t come easy

The big debate we had internally is, why must we continue to advertise for brands at no cost whatsoever?

Yes, this may have been our strategy when the blog was first launched, but right now, it is time to look at a more sustainable strategy – we cannot keep running a fast growing blog like techsmart.ng for free any more.

Going forward, we will stop publishing press releases for free – so this serves as a notice to all brands that may want us to publish their press releases.

Brands can, either, take advantage of our paid Sponsored Post as an avenue to publish their Press Releases on our blog, Techsmart.ng or take advantage of lots of other blogs out there that may be willing to publish Press Releases for free, so go try them out.

We believe that we have built the clout and our traffic, as well as growing popularity, justifies this new decision, so we will abide strictly by it!

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation as always. We promise to keep serving our fantastic community with more tech tips and reviews.
