The National Bank of Egypt (NBE), in collaboration with Visa, has launched a new US dollar credit card designed to facilitate foreign currency transactions for customers in Egypt and abroad.

The new card aims to provide a convenient solution for customers who conduct financial transactions in foreign currencies. It enables seamless electronic payments, international purchases, and cash withdrawals while offering exclusive benefits.

Visa Egypt Vice President and Country Manager Malak El Baba emphasized that Visa is working with NBE to enhance the experience of electronic payments in foreign currencies, ensuring users can access a secure and efficient payment method when making transactions outside of Egypt.

According to Hala Helmy, Head of Products and Financial Inclusion at NBE, the card is available to customers who purchase dollar certificates.

Existing customers holding dollar certificates will also be eligible. The minimum value required for issuance is USD 2,000, while the maximum limit is USD 50,000.

The card allows users to make international transactions, including purchases, cash withdrawals, and online shopping in foreign currencies.

Additional benefits include competitive issuance and renewal fees, a favorable interest rate on outstanding balances, and a grace period of up to 55 days for interest-free purchases.

Cardholders will also have access to the ‘Al Ahly Points’ program, earning 22 points for every dollar spent, which can be redeemed for various rewards.
