A Nigerian based venture capital firm, “Platform Capital”, has provided funds, for a South African start-up, simply known as “Merge”, to further deepen the start-up stronghold and penetration, across Africa.

With the aim of being one of the topmost investment marketplaces, in the continent, Merge intends to keep expanding its operations, not only in West Africa but, also, across Sub-Saharan Africa, in the year 2021.

The start-up is an app and web-based platform that acts as a digital meeting place for other start-ups, entrepreneurs and investors.

It, also, serves, as a connecting ground that allows start-ups and investors, to connect and collaborate seamlessly.

Founded by Zander Mathee and Brandon Bate, it was launched last year September, (2019).

The start-up has been able to, effectively, onboard over 1,000 entrepreneurs, more than 200 investors and have overseen the funding of over 300 ventures.

“This investment from Platform Capital is the partnership that we have been waiting for. The synergies are unparallelled and the access to international markets, will put us in a stronger position going forward.

The platform has, already taken us to Silicon Valley, where they exposed us to its tech ecosystem and deep network; we are now partnering, with leading technology companies to accelerate our growth”, stressed Sadder Mathee, Co-founder of Merge.

Speaking on this development too, is Dr. Ponmile Osibo, Partner at Platform Capital.

“Democratising access to finance, via technology is the next frontier for the investment space and Merge is leading the charge.

We are delighted to partner with Zander and Brandon, two young, passionate, and driven entrepreneurs, with a knack for problem-solving.

We are certain that Merge will become the ‘Tinder’ of investments – matching innovative founders, to willing investors”, Osibor stated.

Merge set up framework, ensures startups are properly merged in investors that are best suited to their funding needs and provides high-quality deal flow, particularly, suited to the investors, (investment firm).
