It was a big win for ShapShap and indeed Nigeria today at GITEX Global 2022 in Dubai, as the Startup from Nigeria won the $8,000 prize for the Supernova – Mobility and Smart Cities Innovator contest.
ShapShap founded in 2019 by Khalil Halilu is an on-demand delivery firm that uses data and mobile technologies to formalize the fractured and unreliable same-day delivery service.
In Lagos and Abuja, the company has executed over 40,000 deliveries. ShapShap’s unique approach to last-mile logistics and combined with Khalil’s established track record creates a unique investment opportunity.
In April 2022, the startup received a seed expansion investment from V8 Capital Partners to grow its capabilities and enter new markets.
Last-mile delivery in Africa grew, and companies like GoKada, Kwik, and ShapShap began to raise financing to extend their services and reach new markets.
The last-mile delivery stage of logistics is critical to overall supply chain management success. It’s also quite hard to get right, however, the startup is executing a change in this narrative.
This Supernova prize for the Nigerian Startup also shows the commitment of NITDA to ensuring that indigenous innovations have all the support they require to thrive locally and compete on the global stage.
