Election time is here again and all is now set to vote leaders into various elective positions.

We have all seen the campaigns ranging from issue based to witch hunting and name smearing, all in a bid to outplay each other. It has been said that no election has ever been this keenly contested in the history of Nigerian politics. One is always certain of who the generality of the masses supports and who is most likely to emerge the winner, but that is not the case with 2015 general elections as contestants will need to slug it out at the polls to determine just how popular their programs and manifestoes appeal to the voters.

While several developed nations have perfected their electioneering process, we are seen to be struggling with accepting a simple technology the umpire introduced as a means of curbing election rigging to the barest minimum. The major contenders have differing opinion as to adopting the use of card readers in the election and both seem to have a point either in support or against the idea. INEC does not appear to be interested in shifting grounds over their plan to go ahead with using the card readers despite the fears being expressed by the generality of Nigerians over the mock elections they just recently concluded.

Another challenge we have had in past elections borders on getting real time result feed from various polling unit across a geographical entity…. be it Local Government, Houses of Assembly, State or Presidential polls.

This challenge has now become a thing of the past with the introduction of an Election Monitoring Application called EVC, an acronym for Every Vote Count. The most amazing part is that the mobile app is FREE!!!!

Have you imagined monitoring elections from the comfort of your home, posting election results as announced by INEC official of your polling booth and ultimately report incidents at your polling booth with pictures as evidence? All this can be done on the EVC APP!
