World’s largest social network company, Facebook is looking poised to maximize the long-term opportunity for WhatsApp, as there are no plans to integrate WhatsApp and Messenger, world’s largest social network firm, Facebook have said.

With Messenger having about 800Million monthly active users and WhatsApp hitting the 1 billion mark, he said Messenger and WhatsApp are the biggest messaging platforms toad, as they both strive to continue with this rapid growth

Addressing developers and entrepreneurs on his first visit to sub-Saharan Africa, Facebook CEO, and Founder, Mark Zuckerberg said the company is not planning to integrate Messenger and WhasApp in the future. “They each have to play to their strengths. Facebook’s focus is how businesses will connect to people with WhatsApp, he said.

We are starting to think about how businesses will connect to people with WhatsApp. “That’s the primary reason we want to do this, so as to know that know the customers and speak to them in a unified voice across platforms.

He said WhatsApp has 1-billion users, but 5-billion people have phones in the world, by implication WhatsApp has about 20% of the real opportunity. “Over the next few years, the big thing is how we get billions more people on the WhatApp,” he added.

He said Facebook as a company is keen to knowing who the customers are and how they will reach out to businesses, to be able to get information that they want via WhatsApp.
