I often stop to imagine what will be the next big thing in the world of social media and how it would impact on Africa. Unfortunately, most of Africa consume more and innovate less on the world’s most popular social media sites. I guess it is not exactly our fault because we have bigger problems to solve with technology.
Of course, we must admit that the emergence of social media networks has drastically changed the ways we communicate and disseminate information, air opinions and grievances etc. Thanks to Facebook, Twitter, Linkedin, etc.
There are, however, emerging social networks that are gradually creeping into the African continent with their varying degrees of impact on the populace. Below are a few emerging social networks that Africans are beginning to embrace:
Ello
Ello is a new social network that everyone is talking about or rather is waiting to get invited to. Ello is like a Facebook without the Ads. This social media network seeks to change the game in a turf that has been ruled by Facebook and Twitter.
Ello’s current reach in the African social network has not reached its zenith. It is expected to rise considering that there are probably up to 35,000 worldwide requests to join Ello each hour. — Continue Reading
