Many transport firms in some regions of Africa are using digital ticketing an innovative form of distributing and delivering tickets, to cut the costs associated with printing tickets.

Guichet, Morocco’s leading company in digital ticketing, has secured a 3 million DH equity investment from CDG Invest, the CDG Group’s investment arm, under the 212 Founders program. Following the Covid-19 pandemic, the fresh investment comes after the restoration of events, cultural, and sporting activities.

Guichet.com wants to build up its market competitive edge in Morocco and achieve its plans and strategic goals with the new investment, starting with a stronger offer for sports athletes and the acquisition of high-potential African markets.

Since its inception, the company has created a big impact. The platform now has tens of a number of customers and has held more than 1,000 events and shows in collaboration with a variety of exclusive partners, including Festival Mawazine, Festival de Marrakech du Rire, Festival de Fes des Musiques Sacrees du Monde, Oasis Festival, and a number of well-known sports teams.

Guichet.com was founded by Moulnakhla Ahmed Tawfik in 2019 and has quickly become the industry standard for digital ticketing in Morocco.

Ahmed Tawfik Moulnakhla, Founder and CEO of Guichet.com, expressed his gratitude for the 212 Founders teams’ trust in him and for being a part of a program that has resulted in the birth of small international businesses. He stated that by forming this collaboration, Guichet.com will be enabled to improve its position and tackle new difficulties peacefully outside of the Kingdom’s borders.

The 212 Founders program has supported 11 Seed and Series A financings totaling MAD54 million since its inception in 2019.

Youssef Mamou, Director of CDG Invest’s 212 Founders Program, expressed his delight at becoming a part of Guichet.com’s ambitious growth and expansion plans. In the face of the health crisis, the startup has demonstrated extraordinary resilience as well as remarkable innovation in assuring the continuance of its operations. He further stated that the purpose of this funding is to help Guichet.com realize its strategic objectives in Africa and consolidate its leadership position in the Moroccan market.

Techbuild’s Take

Many startups are using digital ticketing, an innovative method of issuing and delivering tickets, to cut the expenses associated with printing tickets. A digital ticketing system is a tool for implementing a price strategy that takes operational, commercial, and social goals into account.

This approach is not new, particularly in the transportation industry, where people choose to travel using digital tickets rather than traditional paper tickets. The sporting industry has also followed this transition, with event organizers increasingly sourcing out ways to enhance their attendees’ ticketing experience while simultaneously enhancing safety and security.

These platforms allow spectators to access football matches with their cellphones in a secure and simple manner, as well as allowing smart devices to be used for a variety of other purposes, such as purchasing food and drinks from vending machines.

That is the purpose of the Guichet.com platform. The platforms also give partners a self-contained administration and control setting with real-time ticketing monitoring.

The platform’s success illustrates Morocco’s immense market opportunity, and Guichet.com is willing to take the risk of continuing to digitize the business.

Participating in the 212 Founders program’s third promotion aided the platform’s strategic vision, validation of its market-leading position in Morocco, and exploration of international development potential in the context of health care reform.
