Egyptian cleaning services platform, Jinni has reportedly raised an unspecified six-figure amount in dollars from AUC Angels a university-based angel network.
The start-up makes available cleaning services while having developed a cleaner and customer marketplace.
Portfolio Manager at AUC Angels, Ahmed Amin said, “We are confident in the Jinni’s team and their ability to achieve their targets for next year.
The investment that Jinni has raised is critical to the current status of the business and we are looking forward to supporting Jinni with follow on services, including additional funding.”
Founded in 2016 by a couple (Mostafa Ghannam and Alaa Shams). According to reports from Menabytes, the Cairo-based cleaning startup will develop its platform for a training academy and marketing from the undisclosed amount raised.

In a statement, the startup said “The training academy will continue to train the cleaners to meet Jinni’s criteria of excellence and ensure that they provide consistent customer experience,”
Prior to launching its mobile app for service order, Jinni receives its users’ order to book for cleaners through phone calls and emails. Since its launch in 2016, Jinni has done more than 10,000 jobs for over 3000 customers at their residence.
According to its website, some of the startup’s clients include US data analytics startup, Incorta, Cairo-based co-working space The District and Uber.
Its other corporate clients include Mondelez International, Egyptian Steel and Imkan. According to Mostafa Ghannam, the CEO and Co-founder, he dropped his career as an engineer to commence a startup company to build a clean and better environment for households.
“Many kept telling us our idea was bad and sooner or later we’ll fail not because of the team capabilities but because many people believe a startup depending on blue collars and tech in Egypt can never succeed,” Ghannam emphasised
According to Ghannam, the startup provides its cleaners with few working hours while earning four times more they would get elsewhere.
