Monitoring one’s fitness currently is not difficult, thanks to the numerous fitness trackers in the market. The Misfit Flash comes as one of the best budget fitness trackers one could acquire. This review puts this fitness tracker through its paces to see what makes it ideal as a fitness tracker.
Features and design
The Misfit Flash comes at subsidized prices. This, however, has an impact on the build quality. The tracker is primarily plastic which may appear dull to some. That notwithstanding, bold and brilliant colors are available. The colors will appeal even to the younger generation.
This tracker is an upgrade from the Misfit Shine and has improvements such as having a physical button and brighter LEDs. It also fits perfectly without slipping or falling off. The entire build is waterproof which means you don’t have to worry about using the Misfit Flash in the pool.
Activity Tracking
Misfit Flash is not an ordinary fitness band. First and foremost, it monitors your steps and sleep patterns. It is remarkably accurate in doing this. It detects sleep automatically, however, for other activities you have to switch it on.
It can monitor a whole lot of other activities including swimming, basketball, running, tennis, walking and cycling among many others. This is achievable since the tracker can be placed in more than a single location on the body such as the wrist, ankle, etc.
The App
The app has received some redesigning. Most users, however, still feel that more could be done on the analysis side. The app is offered for Android as well as iOS devices.
On the app, you get a view of your calories, steps and miles walked. A graphical analysis shows your progress towards set goals and an indicator of the points in which you were most active. Extra information can be pulled and other periods of activity such as runs, a swim or cycle can be found.
The real letdown, however, is that the app lacks an analysis of the performance. The sleep tab too is not so impressive. Though it has a graphical representation of light and deep sleep with an indication of the level of restful sleep achieved, the term restful sleep is quite vague, and the graph is unpleasantly tiny.
The app is, however, quite interactive, and the user can see what progress other friends that are using Misfit Flash are making. It is also compatible with Apple Health though only step data is provided.
Battery life
The tracker uses a watch battery and can remain powered for well over six months. Compared to other fitness trackers, this is an exceptionally long battery life.
Conclusion
Misfit Flash makes fitness tracking affordable to everyone. And though its build features and usable data may not be perfect, the app is quite satisfactory in tracking the user’s fitness.
