A friend once approached me some time ago and told me that he’s got a business idea.

“That’s awesome” I replied and he beamed with joy.

“So how do you plan to go about the business”, I asked.

He outlined all his plans and after listening to him, I asked him, how he planned to boost the online business sales?

He looked at me and told me that he is still working on it.

I was shocked and in my mind, I was thinking how, at this present age, only a few people understand the underlying principles of how to use E-commerce to boost their sales?

The world is now a global village, with the internet linking every one of us, together.

The internet has offered the opportunity, to leverage on a lot of things and one of them is boosting the sales of online businesses.

That is where E-commerce comes to the fore.

In 2013, studies show that 41.3% of internet users have made online purchases.

A continuous upward trend was noticed here and by 2018, it reached 47.3%. E-commerce sales have reached $1,672 billion in 2015 and it hit $2,995 billion in 2018.

E-commerce, also known as internet commerce refers to the buying and selling of goods, or, services, using the internet as well as the transfer of money and data, to execute these transactions.

E-commerce has grown, to the extent that, products are much easier to discover and purchase, through online retailers and marketplaces.

Others, like Independent Freelancers, small businesses and large corporations, have also benefited from E-commerce, which offers them the platform to sell their goods and services, at a scale that was not possible, with traditional offline retail.

Below are ways, through which one can use E-commerce, to boost sales.

Focus on customers retention strategy

Sometimes, when a business has a growth problem, it may not be that, the solution lies in getting new customers, but it may be that, the business is not doing well enough, to hold on to existing customers.

Once the business is being patronized frequently, by existing customers, the business tends to grow.

Work out a strategy that, will make old and existing customers want to always purchase from you.

Product description in a simple and brilliant way

Connect with your targeted audience by giving a simple and brilliant description of what your product is all about. Do not over-elaborate the product.

Hit home, basic and concise information about the product, but ensure that, it is catchy and brilliant.

Product Photos

You just have to get it right here, as people tend to fall in love with anything that appeals greatly, to their senses.

Ensure that, the product photographs are of the right quality. You can hire a professional photographer to do this for you.

Ensure that the speed of your site is topnotch

The first thing that dissuades customers from patronizing your products online is when your site is slow.

Nowadays, people are always in a hurry and do not have the patience, to wait.

Optimize the speed of your site, as this ensures that, customers can click in, at any time they like and purchase what they need.

Use Mobile App

You need to buy into this, as it will ensure that, customers can access your site in a faster and more efficient way. Mobile Apps are a simplified version, of the original site.
