I have said it time and again, that technology has finally caught up with all facets of our daily lives and only those amenable to change, by embracing these technological advancements in their respective fields of work or other human endeavours will survive the onslaught.
There is virtually no sector left out in experiencing one form of technological disruption or the other. Many of us, for instance, have witnessed how the Goal Line Technology, which I wrote about in the SUNDAY PUNCH edition of June 15, 2014, works by clearly showing whether or not the ball crossed the line for a goal to be recorded or not at the FIFA World Cup tournament that ends in Brazil today.
Nigeria’s game with France was a true test of this innovation. Many of us that watched the match thought that Benzema’s shot had already gone in until Victor Moses salvaged that situation and FIFA immediately showed the world exactly what issue the goal line technology innovation was supposed to solve.
The chances of the referee getting that one right without the use of technology would have been much slimmer. Even though Nigeria lost, technology helped us fight on until the very end when they actually scored. — Continue Reading
