Lagos-based pan-African technology news and analysis website, TechCabal, has announced speakers for its first AfricaBeta event.

The first edition of AfricaBeta is tagged Chat 3.0 and it will explore the ideas and technologies that are shaping the future of the African continent. The aim is to showcase the companies and individuals pushing the frontier, influencing how Africans experience a life in which technology has become essential.

Speaking at the event are Etop Ikpe, the co-CEO of Dealdey, Nigeria’s largest discounted deals website; Adia Sowho, Director, Digital Business at Etisalat Nigeria and Amber Fowler, a Partner and Chief of Staff (overseeing fund operations and portfolio development) at EchoVC.

The event will be hosted by the award winning journalist and television personality, Lamide Akintobi.

As part of AfricaBeta, three startups will demo on the AfricaBeta stage. The startups are the top seed from the Africabeta ideathon that ended last week. The startups will be announced on Wednesday, 30th September 2015.

The ideathon is a parallel experience within AfricaBeta and the winning startup stands to gain an early deployment access to the WeChat platform and also a go-to-market support for their product or service. All participating startups will also be able to leverage WeChat’s built-in functionalities and get exposure to an audience of industry experts, technology and internet investors and savvy technology enthusiasts that can help turbocharge their ideas.

Entry to Africabeta is free, but attendance will be secured by registration. Full event details are available at Africabeta.co.

AfricaBeta is sponsored by WeChat, the all-in-one messaging app.
