Dr (Mrs) Omobola Johnson, the honorable Minister of Communication Technology in Nigeria, was the guest at this week’s edition of Tech Trends on Channels Television.
The honorable Minister spoke on the government’s efforts at getting more local Nigerian companies to play significant roles in the ICT sector in the country. She stressed the enabling environment created which the local entrepreneurs could exploit.
With the Right of Way being a contentious issue in the Nigeria, the Minister stated the steps that the Federal Government is taking to get broadband connectivity total parts of Nigeria.The Minister unfolded the intent of the SmartCity Initiative that aims at merging the efforts of the Federal Government and those of the other key players in broadband distributions to create efficiency and affordability in the country.
Speaking of affordability, the Minister explained what the government is doing to make broadband affordable as well as when the cost of connectivity can be expected to come cheap.
On the stimulation and enhancement of innovation and ingenuity in the tech sphere in the country, the honorable Minister spoke about Demo Africa; both past and coming events. She described an ecosystem for innovations that include projects such as Techlaunch Pad.
