Report has it that attacks on Power Grids in the USA are on the rise. Hackers are stepping up efforts to penetrate critical systems and plant malicious codes that can compromise the entire system and result in a nationwide crisis. How does this relate to Nigeria?
We have always had to deal with vandals stealing cables other physical Power infrastructure in Nigeria. Well, as we look to upgrade and modernize our power infrastructure by improving the Technology in that sector, it is important that we also think security from the onset so as not to be faced with a National Power crisis which can be triggered by the click of a single button on the keyboard by a ruthless hacker!
If the USA, with its heavy online security system can be penetrated, I wonder which country cannot. This is an alert meant for the new handlers of the Nigerian National Grid, to take both the physical and online security of the National Power Infrastructure very seriously. Hackers are everywhere!
