There is paradigm shift from the use of the Bibles to digital Bibles (Phones, Tablets or iPads). It has become a growing trend in our world today.
Most persons have embraced the culture of using their gadgets in religious places instead of the bible.
This has created arguments as to whether it is right or wrong to do so. I decided to seek the opinions of others on this issue.
Dayo, Ikeja: What is the bible? The word of God! The paper is not what matters. It is what is written therein. If the tablet or phone bible contains same words as the one written in the book, then I do not get what the fuss is all about. Personally, I prefer a tablet; it is so useful for me than the hardcopy bible.
Chijioke, Apapa: Previously people used scrolls, now the manuscripts are virtually extinct, but the Bible still exists. When papers are phased out, the bible will always exist. It is not the physical form that matters but the life in the words.
Esther, Olodi-Apapa: I do not really see it as proper, it distracts one’s attention.
Chidinma, Bariga: Hardly can you use a tablet as a Bible and not be distracted, sometimes subconsciously. The safest bet is using the traditional hard copy bible to prevent distraction.
Victor, Lagos Island: To me, if you are sincere about using the Bible app alone, no problem using it. However, most members use the Bible app while at the same time doing something else; it is so distracting.
Chioma, Apapa: Assuming technology never figured out how to use trees to make paper and have the scriptures printed on them, something else would have been called the Bible.
It is not the medium through which it is read, it is the understanding and believing what matters before God. However, it is only advisable to use the book bible than the phone to avoid being distracted by the other features it contains.
Ikenna, Ikeja: The problem with phones is the distraction it creates. Remember, on that phone is your boyfriend’s/husband’s or Girlfriend’s/wife’s pictures and messages.
The boy or Girl you have always crushed just posted a new stunning picture, the company you applied to just send you a message.
Your business plan is there, your cover letter too, several websites you have subscribed to their notifications and you think you would concentrate?
Conclusively, our take on the issue is that the content is what matters most, so as long as you as practicing what’s contained, you go ahead and read.
