Panasonic announced that it would be producing CM1 which is a connected camera. There isn’t a definitive category for this utterly innovative device. It offers all the functionality of a camera, though it is confined to a smartphone-sized build and is, in fact, a smartphone.

Its camera side is packed with an impressive compact shooter; in fact, it is a Lumix brand (a name for Panasonic digital cameras). It has a 1-inch sensor, an f/2.8 focal length lens that is fixed, resolves 20 megapixels and has a full array of PASM. The camera is loaded with automatic shooting modes.

The display is Full HD and measures 4.7 inches. This delivers all the regular shooting information on a regular camera but is additionally very detailed and brilliant. On the display one gets various details including the shutter speed, aperture value, and histogram and camera settings. The shutter button and the activation lever are at the top. It also has volume controls and a power button.

The CM1 also allows the user to adjust the aperture, ISO value, shutter speed among other camera settings. This device can capture Full HD videos and even comes with a 4K video mode.

The smartphone side of this device is similar to the high-end android powered smartphones in the market. The processor is a 2.3 GHz quad-core with a RAM of 2 GB and 16GB internal storage. It has LTE connectivity, Bluetooth, NFC and Wi-Fi. Its OS is the Android 4.4 KiKat.

Both the camera and phone work synchronously and are powered by a 2600-mAh battery.

Though slightly thicker than most smartphone that are currently in the market, the Panasonic CM1 is easy to carry around and fits well in the pocket. It is a superb device that is compact and full of creativity and innovation.
