Oluaka Institute is a social enterprise established in 2017 to contribute in bridging the gap in practical training in business incubation and acceleration in the fields of technological innovation and business entrepreneurship in Nigeria with a view to impacting social and economic problems in the eastern region where unmet needs are quite significant.
Last year, the Institute launched Oluaka Developers Program (ODP 1.0) as one of its core program on scholarship to produce skilled coding workforce by providing young people with relevant ICT competencies to begin startups and enable small business in the south east region.
Since the first call for applications in 2018, Oluaka Institute has received over 1500 applications and have trained 18 interns on software development.
The Interns acquire skills in Web Foundations, Frontend Development, Backend Development, Data Structures and Algorithms after which they Demo a project for final presentation at the end of the 6 months program.
The Institute last cohort had 60% female Interns and it has stated its committed to training more female leaders in technology.
