As part of the Federal government’s plan to raise the bar from the previous administration styler to a fully digital operating system while inculcating the ideals of digitization into civil servants across the Nation.

National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) had on Wednesday, November 25 2020 organised a two-day virtual strategic session to further build capacity among Ministries, various Departments, and Agencies of Public Institutions.

The session is billed to be executed in three phases for Directors of ICT and Heads of Procurement, Network administrators, and Domain Managers, while the third batch is for the NITDA team fronting the Digital Transformation Agenda.

The Director-General of NITDA, Mallam Kashifu Inuwa Abdullahi, represented by the Director e-Government Development and Regulation Dr. Vincent Olatunji In his opening charge, noted that the intent of the training is to ensure that there is a shift to digital technology in administration and workers must be attuned to the technological advancements as obtained in the first world climes. This will make the Nation stay relevant in this post-Covid era.

Speaking further, he clarifies that one of the major forces driving this government policy is to build human capacity to actualize government initiatives at the various MDAs.

He noted that in consonance with the nation’s e-Government masterplan of the country, a strategy to have an institutional framework was designed to implement the NDEPS.

The NITDA boss also hinted that it is in a bid to extend the training to other critical stakeholders in the MDAs that brought about this capacity building workshop. It is intended for idea cross-fertilization on strategic initiatives geared towards moving the Nation forward as we step into this new normal.

Director-General said the training focuses basically on three major topics: e-government and National Digital Economy Policy and Strategy, the legal framework for e-government, and managing government process re-engineering.

Engr. Nasir Shinkafi of Backbone Connectivity Networks Nigeria LTD highlighted the major attributes of e-government as transparency, efficiency, and global standard service which will yield strategic results such as a high-performing government.

Barr. Emmanuel Edet of  NITDA while speaking on the legal framework, explained that for e-Government, the subject matters requiring legal framework are organizational structure, electronic documents recognition, authentication of e-signature, security, and trust.
