The NCC is intensely focused on bringing efficient, qualitative and affordable ICT platforms within the reach of every Nigerian, whether individual or corporate. This was disclosed by the Director Consumer Affairs Bureau, Mrs. Felicia Onwegbuchulam, who represented the EVC, NCC, Prof. Umar Garba Danbatta, at the Information Communication Technology and Telecoms, (ICTEL), Expo organized by the Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry, (LCCI), held on Wednesday, July 25, 2018 at the Eko Hotel & Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos. The Expo will end n Thursday, July 26, 2018.
She stated that, the NCC, as the regulating body in the Telecom sector of the economy, is enabling a level playing field for all Mobile Network Operators and Stakeholders, with a view to benefiting the Consumers, through the effective regulation of the offers dished out by Service Providers. She advised consumers that are not satisfied with the services of their network, to switch to another network and they can do this by retaining their mobile phone number, through the Mobile Number Portability, (MNP), which is provided by the Commission.
The theme of the Expo is ‘Developing Efficiency and Competitiveness in the Digital Age’. She reiterated that, it is in line with one of the Commission’s 8 Point Agenda, which is to Promote ICT Innovation and Investment Opportunities. This will enable Government’s Economic Recovery and Growth plan, (ERGP) and ICT roadmap to drive synergies, which could expand opportunities for disruptive technology innovation and national competitiveness, that is focused on bridging the digital divide in concerned areas. “The theme, also resonates well with the Commission, as NCC is intensely focused on bringing efficient, qualitative and affordable ICT platforms within the reach of every Nigerian, whether individual or corporate”, she explained.
The Expo was attended by stakeholders in the ICT and Telecom industry, with many of them displaying their products, services and solutions for visitors to see and take advantage of.
