After weeks of speculations, Microsoft office all-in-one app is now available on iOS devices after buying the unified Office app for Android devices which has only been available on public preview.

Through the app, users now have access to multiple services which include Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and integrates the Microsoft Lens technology to convert images into an editable format in Word and Excel documents, scanning PDFs, and capturing whiteboards.

Users can access and download this all-in-one app in iOS devices from the Apple App Store and Android users can also access and download the app on Google Play Store.

Before this move was initiated, sometimes in November, Microsoft released a public preview to test run how the app will fare and it was indeed a success.

This prompted the tech company to officially release the app and this move by Microsoft to unify Word, Excel, and PowerPoint under one roof (Office app) is indeed a big advantage.

Ever since the public preview started, Microsoft has taken time to assimilates feedbacks and made several enhancements to the all-in-one app which include;

  • Support for third-party storage services including Box, Dropbox, Google Drive, and iCloud
  • Templates to create new documents, spreadsheets, and presentations
  • General performance improvements.

The Microsoft Office all-in-one app helps to reduce the storage requirement of the app. On iOS devices, the Word app file size is 282.4MB, and the Office app for iOS is 378.6MB.

Microsoft has also mentioned in its blog post that very soon the app will be fully optimised for tablets and also highlighted some new features that would be added to the Office app in the nearest future.

The futuristic features include;

  • Word Dictation that will allow users on Word to dictate their notes and also toolbars to alter formatting and punctuation marks.
  • Excel Cards View to let users view and edit data in an Excel table row using a card format.
  • An Outline to PowerPoint feature to let users write their presentation content as an outline and use the PowerPoint Designer to turn it into presentable slides.

All these outlined features will be available in the next few months for both iOS and Android in a few months from now, but you will need an Office 365 subscription to access premium features.
