Katapult an investment and impact acceleration company with 15 African startups in its portfolio from its total of 120 is moving into the Rwandan market to commence its agtech accelerator in the country’s capital city in collaboration with TBI
According to both parties, the aim of the partnership is to support African impact tech entrepreneurs via reinforcing the continent’s tech ecosystem for innovative solutions, while channeling local and regional investment to these startups.
Asides from Rwanda, the project will support tech startups in other parts of the continent, while providing a network of investors through its programs.
Speaking on this partnership, Rishon Chimboza, Executive Director for TBI Africa:
“I am delighted that TBI is partnering with Katapult to support Rwanda’s agri-tech startups, and to build an investor network to help these businesses thrive and grow,”
“Scalable businesses can play a vital role in Africa’s economic future, and given the right support, with public and private sectors working together, they can grow rapidly.”
Tharald Nustad, Founder of Katapult explained that the new collaboration will create new employment opportunities, push for a viable economic development and offer capital for creative innovative solutions in the East African country and other parts of Africa.
According to Nustad, this appears to be the right time for tech solutions in Africa to scale, owing to its rapid urbanization and its young tech-savvy population.
“We both share the belief that building rapidly scalable businesses in collaboration with both public and private parties is one of the best ways to solve the grand challenges the world is facing.”
