We look back with smiles at the strategic decision to throw in the giveaway segment into our tech blog as a way of differentiating us from other equally fantastic Nigerian tech blogs.

We are happy we did make that, albeit uncomfortable decision, but what it has achieved for us, is that we now have a thriving community of tech enthusiasts who visit regularly and leave highly thoughtful comments.

(Un)fortunately, some of our community members have been complaining of having issues with RaffleCopter, although, we have published posts like “how RaffleCopter widget works on some smartphones”, just to prove that there are really no issues with the tool, we want to remain a listening team.

Going forward, therefore, we will be using another tool called Gleam.

Why Gleam

Gleam is also a fantastic tool from what we have seen so far.

We have decided to introduce this new tool into our giveaway scheme. Rather than continue to use RaffleCopter, for both Tech Trends and Techsmart.ng giveaways, we will now distinguish between them completely, going forward, using two different tools. This will also give those who complain about RaffleCopter the opportunity to participate, using another tool.

What is the difference between Gleam and RaffleCopter?

Quite frankly, the difference is not much other than that Gleam seems to have more functionalities that make it a more effective tool from our perspective as a giveaway organiser, but then, it will be interesting to know what you the user think of it after trying the tool.

Other than this, they are both similar tools with the underlying purpose of managing and rewarding giveaway participants.

We will be on ground to answer any question you might have after trying this tool.

In Summary

Techsmart.ng Monthly Giveaway will be managed, using Gleam
Tech Trends Weekly Giveaway will be managed, using RaffleCopter – so we are not doing away with RaffleCopter!

What are you waiting for?

Nothing, if you ask me. Just get positioned for all future Techsmart.ng giveaways that will be managed through this tool.
