Filecoin Foundation and the Observatoire National de la Recherche Scientifique et Technologique in partnership with the Association des Etudiants de l’ENIM – AEENIM recently concluded their one-day workshop for blockchain developers interested in building their first Dapps on the Filecoin Virtual Machine (FVM) in Morocco.
Hosted by the Filecoin Orbit Community in Morocco under Filecoin Africa, the workshop took place at ENSMR, Agdal, Rabat.
Moderated by Fatine Torki, the workshop saw discussions about Dapps development on the FVM, exploring decentralized data storage with Filecoin and unlocking the future with blockchain.
Delivering the opening remark, Youssef Hamdaoui, President, of the National Observatory of Research Scientific & Technology (ONSRT), acknowledged the Filecoin Foundation’s drive in promoting blockchain’s decentralization concept in Africa, with special mention of how Nigeria has led the expansion across the continent.
Imane Nifaoui, President of Women In Blockchain (WIB) Morocco Community educated the participants on ” Community Building & Collaboration“, reiterating the need for a more inclusive and equitable blockchain ecosystem.
“By creating a community, helping role models emerge, and providing resources and opportunities, we are a catalyst for women’s equal participation in defining the impact of blockchain.”
Youssef Khaoulaj, CEO/CO-founder, of Moroccan Blockchain Laboratory discussed, “Blockchain Industry and Financial Democracy”, relating APPS with Dapps, and how Dapps can unlock financial inclusion.
Enoch Mbaebie, Regional Lead, Filecoin Orbit Community, Middle East/Africa gave an Introduction to the Filecoin Orbit Community and Filecoin/IPFS.
In his remarks, he touched down on the challenges associated with both the centralized system of finance and data storage, while reiterating how Bitcoin and Filecoin will solve these respective challenges through decentralization.
Robert Dowling, Program Manager for Filecoin Foundation discussed “Building Dapps on FVM & Filecoin Decentralized Storage Network”, as he explored the interoperability and synergies between Filecoin and other decentralized networks.
