There is no excuse whatsoever not to lock your phone, even if you do not use your smartphone to work. Most people neglect this, and a survey carried out also confirmed this act of negligence.

Locking your smartphone is now a cliché, and some people still do not mind to do that.

Lots of technologies have been built around the lock patterns; you have about three options. You can use the draw pattern, password, or passcode.

Typing out the passcode all the time arguably is tiring and annoying; however, if that would save you a whole, then it’s non-negotiable.

Your smartphone is like a mini office, a diary where everything about you is recorded, your social media accounts, your budgeting apps, your journal, notes, etc. These details are entirely exclusive to you and shouldn’t have a third party see them.

If all these information are exclusive and they are treated with indecision, then it becomes an issue to worry about, because setting up a four to 5 digit password or passcode is the simplest thing to do to secure your device.

The ravaging effects are enormous. It is not just restricted to someone close to you having access to the device. What if your device gets lost and a smarter person picks it up and wrecks you?

The person starts receiving notifications from emails, social media, and other medium and could even do a change of password. That makes it worse because you wouldn’t have any access to your accounts anymore.

When you are in this kind of situation you start fidgeting, in the long run, you are drained psychologically.

You can also go as far as encrypting all the contents in your device.

For instance, an Android’s encryption requires a passcode entered into your smartphone every time it’s powered back on.

The only disadvantage when you adopt this model is that it will take several minutes for the device to detect your information.

It is always imperative to prioritize your information over the smartphone. You are better off losing your device than your personal information. Encrypt and protect that critical information.
