As the nation looks forward to the signing into law of the Cyber Security Bill freshly passed by the National Assembly, Cyber security specialists have enunciated several areas of concern for the private sector and governments agencies as they work towards protecting networks against cyber-attacks in Nigeria.
Supporting the step taken by Cyber Security Experts, Chief Operating Officer at Tobeit Consulting, Tobechi Ndubuaka, advised administrators to improve their network security by using the various cyber security software.
He stated that there are few systems that are immune to “Buffer” hacking. There are, however, weak networks that are at the risk of being hacked by hackers, hence there is great need for every organization to build its infrastructure with correct security network against hacking.
He stressed that all installed security software should be updated to maintain high security.
Mr. Ndubuaka said there is the need for more security conferences in the nation, since through these conferences, directions on how to deal with hackers activities are easily discussed and great solutions on how to get rid of hackers are also made.
Mr. Oluseyi Akindeinde, Chief Technical Officer at Digital Encode advised the government to establish cyber security operating centers that will ensure protection to national infrastructure networks.
He asked organizations such as banks and telcos to set up cyber security operating centers that will work as surveillance systems against hackers and electronic fraud.
Akindeinde stressed that proper training should be given to people who will be working in the various cyber security operating centers.
On the same note, former President of the Institute of Software Practitioners of Nigeria (ISPON), Mr. Chris Uwaje insisted that cyber terrorism is real and proper steps should be taken to curb it.
