Due To the ravaging effect of the novel COVID-19, currently, affecting productivity, all over the world, there has been a massive call, for some staff to work from home, a concept that was frowned at, by many employers, prior to the Pre-COVID-19 pandemic, is now being accepted.

In the short space of 4 months, the virus has spread to almost every part of the world and millions of people have been affected, by the deadly virus, with thousands of cases that have died from its effects.

In Europe, North America and Asia, fewer cases, are being reported daily, harnessing the power of data, driven by technology to flatten the curve and reduce the pressure, in the hospitals and clinics, via social distance and maintaining social hygiene, which according to the World Health Organisation, (W.H.O), is the surest method, of halting the spread of the virus.

So far, 3.9 million people, globally, have been affected with the virus and what makes COVID-19, extremely dangerous is, how easily it spreads and infects people, from people, who do not know that they are infected, until after the virus incubation period.

This can take up to 14 days, (or less) and for this reason, social distancing, from friends, colleagues and loved ones, is one of the safest ways of preventing oneself from contracting the virus.

To ensure that, people abide by the social distancing rules, companies have shut down their workplaces and governments have initiated strict lockdown protocols.

Some of the biggest tech companies in the world, have either cut down on operation costs, retrenched workers, or asked workers to stay at home, in their bid to limit the spread of the virus.

It is, however, pertinent to note that, not all kinds of jobs can be done from home, hence, it is imminent that, many employees in many organisms, will still have to be present at their places of work, or be retrenched, in the long run.

Two of the biggest tech companies in the world, Google and Facebook have, recently, released a report that, they will have to ask some of their workers to keep working from home, until the year ends.

However, Google’s Chief Executive Officer, Sundar Pichai, has announced that, employees will be given a day off, on May 22, to deliberate on the work-from-home issues.

According to the report, more Google offices, will be reopened, across the world, next month, (June), but some employees, will have to work from home, until the year ends.

Social media giant, Facebook, has also, released a report that, it will have to encourage its workers, to continue working from home, till the year ends, in its bid, to ensure the safety of their staff and halt the spread of the virus.
