Some days ago, a new conspiracy theory erupted around the world and it circles around the 5G technology and the coronavirus, also, known as COVID-19.

Some researchers and conspiracy theorists, have found it unlikely that, the emergence of both events, simultaneously, is not natural and it is, a long script, written by a group of persons, being played out that will, eventually, lead to the end of the world.

Some other school of thought has, also, propounded that, some spiritual powers are at play with the emergence of COVID-19 and everything happening now is, just a powerplay, designed to decimate the human population in the world.

These sets of news have gathered steam, over the past few days, causing national debates, across the world.

Some African countries that have initiated the development stage of the implementation of the 5G technology, have, since the controversy broke, put further actions on it on hold.

According to the 5G connection theory, Wuhan, the ground zero of COVID-19 and it is, also, one of the cities, prominently, known for the implementation and application of the 5G technology.

The theorists, therefore, concluded that, the 5G technology, aided the spread of the COVID-19 because the radiation that it emits is, beyond human tolerance, but some scientists have come out to debunk this, stating that, COVID-19 is gaining more grounds and affecting more people, across the world that, do not yet have the 5G coverage.

The scientists, also, argued that, Wuhan is, not the only city that has 5G coverage, as it is, on record that, some other cities, also, have the technology and have no record of the virus, prior to the spread of the pandemic.

In the UK, there has been a series of attacks, on mobile phone signal towers in Birmingham, Merseyside and Belfast.

Some form of attacks on mobile operators that have, supposedly, started laying the fibre for the 5G technology coverage in Nigeria have, also, been recorded.

It was, also, reported that, some of the staff, working for mobile operators were, also, attacked and subjected to abuse.

For the reasons adduced above and many more, online video giant, YouTube, has decided, to set in motion, plans to restrict videos about the COVID-19/5G conspiracy theories, from being shared on its platform.

YouTube’s argument is that, with the spread of the virus, in full throttle across the world, this move, is a step, in the right direction, as millions of its viewers, might be misled and this can lead to anarchy, if the conspiracy is allowed to rage on.

Will this conspiracy fade away? Only time will tell, but technology is, meant to grow and spread out, which in the long run, will benefit man, but the risks inherent, too, should be taken care of, if there are any.
