Blog submission is the best way to promote your blog. There are many ways that you can submit your blog to search engines. You may do it yourself or you may hire submission services. Whichever way you choose, it is a great way to be able to increase your blog’s visibility on the internet. Although blog submission is quite similar to submitting your website, there are some things that you need to pay careful attention to.

Tips on Blog Submission to Google

  • If you are submitting your blog to Google, you will need to have a Google account, which is free, and a sitemap. Once you have a sitemap, you can submit it to Google only once and not have to resubmit provided you keep the sitemap updated.
  • If your blog is in WordPress, there is a sitemap plugin that will make things easy for you as it updates the sitemap automatically and notifies Google of any changes on your site.
  • Should your blog software not have the capability to build sitemaps, there are ways that you can create them on your own. Google itself has tools that will help you do just that.
  • Google still accepts blogs with no sitemaps but you will not be able to get detailed statistics.
  • Google does not allow direct blog submission. You will need to ensure that you submit to blog directories which Google uses to get results from and regularly ping those sites.

Tips on Blog Submission to Yahoo

  • If you are planning a blog submission to Yahoo, you will not need a sitemap but you will need to have a Yahoo account, which is free, and submit your site feed.
  • You may also add your blog’s feed to your My Yahoo page. Doing this will help getting your blog included in the Yahoo version of a blog search.

Another search engine, Bing, is different from Yahoo and Google in the sense that you can do your blog submission directly without needing to have an account. However, you may need to submit manually because there is a requirement to enter the characters on the page to ensure the submission is successful.
