Blockchain Technology May Be Useful In Combating Coronavirus

Coronavirus, commonly known as COVID-19, has turned a global epidemic, with lots of lives lost, to its death fangs.

According to data, from the Centre for Disease Control and Prevention, more than 90,000 people, have been infected, with more than 3,000 recorded deaths.

According to the Cointelegraph, the blockchain technology has, however, proved useful, in staging a combat, against the epidemic.

So far, blockchain has been employed, in monitoring supply chains, on medical supplies and drugs.

It has, also, proved useful, in handling medical data and ascertaining symptoms of infection.

One of the biggest mobile payment company in China, Alipay, has been working with a Provincial Health Commission and Information Technology Department after it launched a blockchain platform.

The technology is, employed here, to trace the chain of medical supplies, which has ensued, after what appears to be a scarcity of facial masks.

The apparent shortage has been one of China’s greatest challenge, since the outbreak of COVID-19.

Reports from the National Development and Reform Commission, (NDRC), in the country had stated that, the daily production of face mask is, around 15.2 million, whereas, the demand falls between 50 to 60 million.

Though the outbreak may have come, without warnings, reports have shown that, blockchain is, required to monitor the medical supply chain.

Blockchain has, also, helped in solving the issue of trust that arises, by giving donations, to fight the outbreak of the disease.

In recent times, the Red Cross has been under the radar, concerning reports, of alleged misuse of donations.

On donation, using the blockchain technology, donors, can monitor their give away funds.

Blockchain has proved useful, even, beyond health, as it has done, in finance, entertainment and business.
