Time is money and technology can help us save time and ultimately money. Some of the ways in which technology has improved efficiency and effectiveness are stated below:

Faster Output: The use of technology allows businesses and individuals to process data at a much faster rate and minimize the chances of errors. Libraries, for instance, are a good example of how technology can improve efficiency and effectiveness. In the past, one had to search through countless cabinets in the Library to find the required book. Now, the same time-consuming task can be done with just a few clicks on your PC.

Significantly Improves Accuracy: Technology is capable of improving on the accuracy of tasks because computers are far better than the human brain at carrying out repetitive tasks. Humans easily get distracted and tend to veer off course, especially while carrying out tasks with large volume. Automation is another very important aspect of technology allowing us to do repetitive tasks with accuracy. For example, automating newsletters to be sent to thousands of people takes just a few minutes when technology is used compared to the longer time it takes when sent manually.

Access To Information From Anywhere: A fascinating aspect of using technology is the fact that it allows us to access information from virtually anywhere in the world. The banking system is probably one of the best example of this as you can withdraw cash from your bank account from anywhere in the world through the use of ATM cards and machines.. In the past, you had to physically visit your bank to make a transaction. Now, you can carry out most of your transactions through internet banking, using a computer or mobile phone and an internet connection. Information is now stored in the cloud and accessible from anywhere.

Internet Of Things: Internet of things revolves around the concept of connecting almost everything that has internet access. It is about creating a system in which everything is connected to every other thing, with the aim of increasing efficiency and effectiveness. Here your office computer may be connected to your fridge at home, thus, allowing you to, maybe switch the fridge on in your house from the comfort of your office without going home.

Collapses Distance: Technology amazingly collapses distance and connects people instantly like never before. Mobile phones are used to call one another any time while images and videos can also be sent instantly through platforms such as WhatsApp, etc. Satellite Television is capable of showing what is happening in Russia here in Nigeria in real time. No wonder then, that we always hear of the world now a global village.

You, however, need to select the technology that suits you and capable of achieving your objectives. When used properly, technology has the potential to contribute to significant time savings, efficiency, effectiveness and productivity.

The list stated above are by no means exhaustive. We welcome your additions to this list through your comments here for the benefit of the community.
