ANSICTA Reiterates support for establishing NITDA ICT Hub in Anambra State

The Government of Anambra State has reiterated its preparedness in making available the required support for establishing the National Information Technology Development Agency, (NITDA) South-East Zonal ICT Hub in the State.

This was made known by he Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer, Anambra State Information and Communication Technology Agency, (ANSICTA), Mr Theo Manfa, during a visit to NITDA on Tuesday, September 15, 202.

Also included among the Anambra State delegation are; Dr. (Mrs.) Amina Sambo Magaji, Director Office of ICT Innovation and Entrepreneurship – OIIE; Michael Orekyeh, the Chief Operating Officer of the Agency; Dr. Taofik Yekini, Corporate Strategy Department; Dr. Saidu Kumo, Deputy Director of IT Infrastructure; Dr. Mohammed Yahaya, SA Technical to the DG,  while Malam Kashifu Inuwa Abdullahi, Director-General of NITDA, was represented by Dr. Vincent Olatunji, Director E-Government and Regulation, and other Directors and Key Management Staff.

Manafa, speaking at the event said that the “state “has long been known as a home of innovation and entrepreneurship, through the various markets like Onitsha and Nnewi and the plethora of locally produced goods they spawned over time.”

He emphasised the necessity of the new digital economy, while expressing how ANSICTA hopes to partner with NITDA to ensure the development of the sector in the state.

Manfa requested a collaboration between ANSICTA  and NITDA in building an ICT Hub in Anambra State; hosting NITDA events and programs as a State and region; hosting a NITDA regional office; NITDA Programs for trainings and Skills development where the State hopes to train 40,000 residents in the next 2 years in Digital skills; establishment of cooperation on the Nigeria Government Enterprise Architecture (NGEA) and the provision of the Unity Board where 150 units were requested for a program for secondary schools in Anambra.

An award of “Outstanding Achievements in Driving the Digital Economy” was presented to Director-General and was received by by Dr. Vincent Olatunji on behalf of the DG.

NITDA DG, in his response expressed his happiness in noting that Anambra State now has an ICT Agency as the number one man of the state, Governor Willie Obiano had visited NITDA 6years ago in line with the establishment of an Agency for the State.

Abdullahi noted that NITDA had worked with Anambra Stae to develop an ICT policy

“The success of that exercise is the take-off of the agency (ANSICTA) which is the execution arm of the policy developed by NITDA”, he said.

Abdullahi stated further that the speech of ANSICTA’s MD was in tune NITDA’s mandates and affairs, while stating that ANSICTA should make a formal application for what they had requested during the  as it will be looked into by the NITDA Management for approval.

The DG of NITDA expressed appreciation to ANSICTA for acknowledging the good works of NITDA by the award presentation.
