With the improvement in Google’s terms of service set to take effect on Tuesday, March 31, 2020, the tech company is making ongoing efforts to simplify how it communicates with users.

Here is a summary of what the changes mean for you.

  • Improved readability: While Google’s Terms remain a legal document, it has done its best to make it easier to understand, including adding links to useful information and providing definitions.
  • Better communication: Google has clearly explained when it will make changes to it services (like adding or removing a feature) and will restrict or end a user’s access. Google we’ll do more to notify you when a change negatively impacts your experience on its services.
  • Adding Google Chrome, Google Chrome OS and Google Drive to the Terms: Google’s improved Terms now cover Google Chrome, Google Chrome OS, and Google Drive, which also have service-specific terms and policies to help you understand what’s unique to those services.
  • No changes to our Privacy Policy: Google is not making any changes to the Google Privacy Policy and haven’t made any changes to the way it treats your information. As a reminder, you can always visit your Google Account to review your privacy settings and manage how your data is used.
