Sometimes, we misplace our phones or they get stolen outright. As we have loads of data on those phones the next thing that comes to our mind is how to find that phone and there are many ways to try and to find it. You can, however, find your misplaced or stolen Android phone through the Android Device Manager, ADM, or if you are using an iOS phone, you can find it through Find My iPhone.

ADM comes pre-installed on some recent Android phones and if you cannot find it in yours, then, simply head on to the playstore and install it and give it full permission to lock or erase your phone if you trigger it, (this is turned off by default). The honest truth is that this kind of services actually need Data to work, so, if the thief disconnects the phone, then it is all over – this is the downside of a service like this.

To use this service, simply log in to your ADM via a PC and choose the device. Once this is done and the device location is shown, then you can remotely control the phone to ring out or be locked or better still, erase all your data which is what I recommend you do immediately before the thief turns off the data, except of course, you are sure that you will find the phone. The process is similar for those who use iOS.

Truth is that it is not 100% guaranteed, but there are cases of people who have been lucky with this process and you might just be next.

Have you misplaced or had your phone stolen before but later recovered it? If yes, let us know how.
