Technology today impacts almost every aspect of our modern life. We cannot find a single industry that is not being impacted by hi-tech revolution. This immense impact of technology, however, is most apparent in the field of Medicine and healthcare. Whether it is inventing new vaccines or creating robotic limbs, we have come a long way in medical technology.

Doctors and researchers now apply technologies to achieve such things that couldn’t have even been dreamt of just twenty five years ago.

In this article, we are going to take a look at 5 top advancements in medical technology in recent years, some of which are already being put to use in the medical field today.

  1. Brain Preservation TechnologyThe idea behind Brain Preservation is to preserve animal brain and link with a computer so that the brain can function independently outside of the body. Although, this may seem to be an impossible feat, it will soon become a reality very soon. Scientists at the Brain Preservation Foundation are inventing various technologies to preserve the brain outside the body. Presently they are following two strategies called “Plastination” and “Cryonics”. The results of their current researches, so far, are really promising.
  2. Nanobots in BloodBlood Nanobots are microscopic man-made nano-machine which can imitate the function of natural blood cells of our body. Many scientists and companies have made breakthroughs in nano technologies in recent years. Institutions such as the Institute for Molecular Engineering and Foresight Institute are spending so much time to make blood nanobots a reality.
  3. Electronic AspirinResearchers invented this new technology to help people who suffer from migraine headaches, cluster headaches, and other severe head or facial pain.
  4. Holographic images:Like a scene from a science fiction movie, this new technology makes it possible for doctors and scientists to see and interact with virtual representations of internal body organs in real-time. This holographic technology has the potential to fully transform the way doctors see the inside of their patients.
  5. Laser Eye SurgeryLaser beams are being utilized as cutting and burning instruments in numerous types of surgical treatment, such as eye surgery. Laser beam is also being used to deal with sickness of the retina and to reshape the cornea for the treatment of short sightedness.

Many technological advancements are emerging in the Medical healthcare sector, hence, cannot be exhausted in a single post. It is hoped that these medical advancements will improve the quality of life the world over.
