Many people want to learn new languages for all sorts of reasons, including communicating effectively with different cultures, a possible job promotion, frequent traveling or even just for the sake of learning. It is not practically possible for everybody to have spare time to enroll in language learning classes as well as having the funds and efforts required to register.  Luckily, smartphones have become convenient tools of learning and makes it faster and easier for people to learn new languages. Here are some language learning apps you can find around:

1.    Duolingo

Duolingo is one of the most popular Android app for learning new languages and has also been recognized by Google Play and App Store as 2013’s best App. The app enables the users to learn new languages effectively by repetition, conversation and speaking audibly and the level is advanced as the learner progresses.

2.    Babbel

Babbel works on the similar principles of repetition and conversation as Duolingo does and costs a monthly subscription. Individual apps for Italian, Spanish, German, French and Portuguese can be downloaded to focus on single language.

3.    Memrise

The Memrise app focuses on learning basic and advanced Spanish by memorizing different words. The app is available for free download and works quite well for those seeking to learn Spanish.

4.    AnkiApp

AnkiApp is for those looking to learn Japanese and users can memorize different Japanese words using flashcards. The app also offers quick sessions where users can quickly challenge themselves with quizzes.

Other than the above apps, there are many other apps too like Busuu, MindSnacks and Brainspace that offer easy and rapid learning of new languages. Depending on the learner’s requirements, language skill levels and learning abilities, these apps offer effective tools for learning new languages conveniently and cheaply. Some work better than others, but in the end, it all comes down to the user’s preferences and learning abilities.

Have you used any of the apps stated above to learn a new language or two or are you willing to try any of them? Try them out and let us know how effective you find them here.
