AWIEF Announces Pitch n Grow 2026

I asked a young boy of 12, what is the opposite of original, he told me China; I couldn’t stop laughing. Well, fake commodities in Nigeria are imported from China. That is the perception about Chinese product. It’s just as simple as that. On the contrary, that is not true.

Obviously, you don’t need to spend a fortune to get an efficient smartphone. Most people think when you purchase a smartphone at a cheaper rate it makes it inferior; that’s not true. Yes, everyone is subjected to his or her choice especially when it comes to using a smartphone. Your preference might be different from mine, but what matters is the efficacy of the smartphone.

The case is usually distinct in this part of the world when people think that Chinese phone users are just wasting their time on fake products. This perception about Chinese product is just negative. In fact, the opposite of original is China.

3 Things that make Chinese smartphones to be cheaper

When you use a Chinese phone, you’ll be astonished at how well they work and fast they can be when they cost so little money. Relatively unknown Chinese manufacturers are making affordable, yet slick phones. You don’t need to use an iPhone or Samsung to be regarded as someone enjoying the full benefits of a smartphone. Chinese smartphones are occupying the Nigeria with high specs and low prices.

For the fact that they are cheap doesn’t mean they are inferior compared to other phones. However, let me share with you the major reasons why Chinese phones are usually inexpensive:

Cheap cost of labor

China labor market is one of the most competitive globally, hence the reason for the low cost of smartphones. When the cost of producing smartphone is small, it has been passed on to the consumers. The same thing happens when the price is high

We have seen new Chinese phone manufacturers come up with good quality cheaper phones, let alone of the leading Chinese manufacturers who have the advantage of building phones locally. These manufacturers most times do not spend much transport compared to the likes of HTC or Sony.

Chinese manufacturers do not spend much on marketing

If you have witnessed Samsung, Apple or Sony phone launch, you will agree with me that these companies spend a fortune to do that. They prefer using their social media platforms instead of spending a lot of money in marketing.
Good specs but not wholly revolutionary

Wonderful specifications but not revolutionary

Some Chinese manufacturers do not design their phones with the very latest and greatest hardware, which is just the truth. Chinese phones with high innovative components are not cheaper. For instance, latest Techno phones in Nigeria are not cheap; some are quite expensive.

Most Chinese phone manufacturers are cautious of balancing price with the phone quality. Yes, they have good specifications but less quality phone parts.
