AppsAfrica has released a shortlist of finalists for the fifth edition of the AppsAfrica Innovation Awards.

This year’s award got over 400 applications across 52 countries that spanned through 14 categories.

The winners would be announced in Cape Town on Monday, November 11, 2019, from the 70 selected finalists.

The categories of the innovation award cut across; agritech, blockchain, best Africa app, changing Africa, disruptive innovation, fintech, edtech, enterprise solution, health tech, internet of things, m-commerce, mobility and transport, media and entertainment, social impact.

The 70 finalists got selected across the world and 12 of them are from Nigeria.

Here is a list of the selected Nigerian platforms for the AppsAfrica Innovation Awards

El-kanis and Partners

ELThis agritech company develops agricultural technology platforms that address crop and food specific issues, offering solutions that ensure agribusiness profitability, increase efficiency and environmental sustainability.

SecureView Ltd

secureviewIt is a technology company focused on providing hi-tech solutions to individuals and organizations in the emergency and security space.

Carbon wefi

CarbonThey empower individuals with access to credit, simple payment solutions, high-yield investment opportunities and easy-to-use tools for personal financial management.

With a believe to enhance access to credit and quality financial services area.

The company’s mission is to empower all people with the financial access they need to pursue a life of dignity and prosperity.

Flutterwave

flutterwaveProvides a complete payment solution that allows you to accept payments, make payouts and manage your business funds from one integrated platform.

54gene

54Founded in 2019 to address the significant gap in the global genomics market. 54gene aims to unlock the African genome by building the world’s first and largest pan-African biobank.

Together with other pharmaceutical and biotech partners, the platform plans to study this data set to identify diagnostic and therapeutic targets that benefit people all over the world.

Helium Health

AppsAfrica Innovation Awards - cfamediaThe mobility company is more than a bike-sharing initiative as they are set to revolutionise transportation by extending personal mobility through a network of custom made bicycles that can be checked out at stations.

MVXchange

MVX e1570805891790A technology-driven maritime platform that matches vessel charter requests directly to offshore support vessels (OSVʼs) in the African oil and gas industry.

The platform empowers its users to charter and manage offshore support vessels while reducing man-hours, saving cost and maximising performance.
