It’s no news that we currently live in a global society heavily dependent on technology. Some even refer to this era as the digital age.
In the midst of this revolution are young African women entrepreneurs who are leveraging technology to make a difference in their various niches.
One of these stereotype-breaking heroines is Egypt’s Dina Dash. For those who may not know her, she is the founder and CEO of Dash Management a successful digital marketing, and PR agency. In 2015, she also founded the first beauty conference in Egypt – Dash Beauty Con.
Describing what her company is all about, she said,
“If I would describe our work in one sentence it would be: a brand-development and lead-generating engine.
We have the means to take over a client’s marketing from top to bottom, starting from influencing campaigns, video productions, photoshoots, event planning and management, public relations, production, distribution, creating strategies, and most importantly providing a steady and reliable boost in the return of the client’s investment.”
Though starting off as a 19-year old novice, passionate about running her own business with just a laptop and a big dream, she has grown in leaps and bounds, becoming an accomplished entrepreneur today.
How did she achieve this within a few years? From her explanation, She utilized the theoretical knowledge she acquired at the university coupled with actual real-life day-to-day work activities as she progressed.
As a young woman, if you’re in doubt about pursuing your vision, dreams, and goals in a patriarchal society, Dina Dash’s example of relentless ambition, perseverance, and focus are worth considering.
“I had a vision, I worked towards it and google was my best friend.”, she said.
As all entrepreneurs have learned at some point in their journey, you don’t have to know everything before you begin. Find your purpose, pursue it, Learn as you go, make mistakes, recover from them, and scale.
Dina Dash, like other young African female entrepreneurs, continues to inspire and encourage countless and impressionable females in the continent, thereby creating an economic and gender-equal society.
