The Odyssey platform will retain your video content on the blockchain indefinitely if you want to upload whatever video footage you want online and save it there without fear of it being taken down.

Odyssey, a video platform that was founded in July 2020 and launched in December 2020, has seen an increase in its user base.

The LBRY network’s video programming is hosted on a YouTube-style platform. There are no censors or personal security filters for younger users, unlike YouTube, and the content is permanently stored on the blockchain.

Odyssey is based on blockchain technology, which guarantees that the channels of its creators will never be destroyed. When a channel is built, it is permanently logged on a blockchain distributed ledger.

While this appears to be a terrific idea, it could have long-term implications for some content providers, especially when sentiments shift over time. Content creators may be saddled with dreadful material that they may come to regret as they grow older.

When video footage is stored on the blockchain, no single entity has authority over it or can edit it, making de-platforming impossible regardless of how radical, violent, or false the content is.

According to Odyssey, there are over 300,000 content creators on the platform that publish a wide spectrum of video content on topics ranging from useful to bizarre. Unlike other video streaming platforms, users can watch any of the videos for free.

Odyssey is created utilizing the LBRY protocol, which allows developers to create apps that connect with the LBRY network’s resources. LBRY.TV, the platform’s progenitor, has been phased out in favor of Odysee.

If they like, content providers can charge an LBC to watch the video. If viewers enjoy the video, they can leave a tip for the creator. Each video displays the number of credits it has earned for the artist.

The deposit makes sure that the material is listed on the LBRY blockchain and may be found by other users.

Users must have an Odysee wallet linked to their account, which may be viewed after logged in. They can also keep their money in a third-party wallet.

Content influencers make a variety of money. According to Odyssey, typical influencer earnings range from $100 to $5,000 per month, depending on the type of content they create.

Users and authors have more autonomy over their content when they use blockchain. Users must still comply to certain terms and conditions, such as not inciting violence, just as they would in a bar. They are more or less free to post and interact in the same way they would in a public space.

Delisting is Odyssey’s alternative to demonetization and de-platforming, in which a user’s channel and material remain but are no longer discoverable through search, browsing channels, or other means. As a result, the content can be shared as much as wanted.

Users can simply withdraw their own material using a command. Odysee retains the power to remove extreme or disruptive users from its system. The material, however, is not removed from the LBRY network, but only from Odyssey.
