The United States Consulate General in Lagos will host a Google Hangout on Tuesday, February 21, 2017, at 1 p.m., to respond to questions from the public on how to apply to U.S. higher education, with a focus on living and studying at any of the 107 Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs).

Channels Television’s Foreign Affairs Editor Amarachi Ubani will moderate the one hour Google Hangout session and direct your questions to an EducationUSA advisor, an American alumna of, and two Nigerian students attending Historically Black Colleges and Universities, who will share practical information about academic programs and campus life at HBCUs.

“We look forward to helping students who are considering continuing their education in the United States. The Google Hangout session promises to provide valuable information on educational, social, cultural and economic aspects of studying in a typical American university, especially at Historically Black Colleges and Universities,” Public Affairs Officer Darcy Zotter said.

Building on the success of the previous Google Hangout sessions held in August 2015 and April 2016, which thousands of Nigerians, including those residing outside the country participated in, the upcoming session is being organized in commemoration of the 2017 Black History Month.

Interested Nigerians and other nationals are encouraged to participate by tuning in to the live broadcast via the event page link http://bit.ly/askeduusa2017 or by logging on to the United States Embassy’s YouTube channel (http://www.youtube.com/USEmbassyNigeria).

The session will be available for subsequent viewing via the United States Embassy’s YouTube channel. Questions can also be submitted in advance via the Google Hangout event page (http://bit.ly/askeduusa2017), the U.S. Embassy’s Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/usembassynigeria) or by tweeting @USEmbassyAbuja using the hashtag #AskEdUSALagos.
