This question always crops up as to whether you prefer to turn your location feature on or off or you are simply remain indifferent? Well there is no right or wrong answer to this question..

The good side is that the all-important GPS service on your phone requires the location feature to work. It is,however, important to understand that if you choose to turn it on permanently, then, it is easier for anyone, (good or bad), to know where you are at any given point in time. This does not mean that you cannot be tracked, even with location off, but that is a much more advanced process.

Interestingly, not too many people are aware that giant Internet companies such as Google, Microsoft, Facebook or Apple thrive on tracking your location. This is because, that is how they are able to learn more about your interests and places you visit, so that with that and other information, they can serve you more personalised adverts.

Just in case you did not know, those adverts that you see while surfing the net or using an app is not random. They are tailor made for you, based on how much the bots have understood your preferences.

Anyway, even if you do not want your location service turned on, an increasing number of apps require it to function optimally. What I will recommend is for you to turn it on, only when you need to use it and then turn off immediately you have completed the task you want to use it for, but, then, the choice is entirely yours.

It should be remembered, though, “….every single activity online leaves a footprint and that footprint will eventually end up somewhere in the cloud”.
