President Tinubu appoints Jane Nkechi Egerton-Idehen as new MD/CEO of NIGCOMSAT

In continuation of the waves of new appointments by His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Administration, Jane Nkechi Egerton-Idehen, a very prominent personality in the tech ecosystem as the new MD/CEO of Nigerian Communications Satellite Ltd, NIGCOMSAT, an Agency under the Ministry of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy. She replaces Engr. Tukur Mohammed Lawal as the MD/CEO.

This was made known in a statement issued on Wednesday, October 11, 2023, by Ajuri Ngelale, Special Adviser to the President, (Media & Publicity), listing her appointment, as well as those of others under the Ministry of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy.

Jane Nkechi Egerton-Idehen, who hold a Masters’ Degree obtained from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, as well as Executive certification in niche institutions, such as Harvard and Yale Universities in the United States of America, is well equipped to handle the new appointment perfectly well, dovetailing from the experiences she has garnered from the working experiences in the tech space over the years.

Prior to her appointment as MD/CEO of NIGCOMSAT, Jane has worked as Head of Sales (Middle East and Africa) at Meta, formerly known as Facebook and as Country Manager for Nigeria and Regional Sales Director, at Avanti Communications Group PLC.

She has also worked with reputable telecommunications companies like Ericsson and Nokia-Siemens, where she proved her mettle.

The other appointments confirmed include Aminu Maida, EVC/CEO, Nigerian Communications Commission, (NCC), Kashifu Inuwa Abdullahi, who retains his position as DG/CEO, National Information Technology Development Agency, (NITDA), Dr. Vincent Olatunji, National Commissioner/CEO, Nigeria Data Protection Commission, (NDPC) and Tola Odeyemi, Postmaster-General/CEO, Nigerian Postal Service, (NIPOST). The President, also approved the appointment of Idris Albankudi as Special Adviser to the President on Technology and Digital Economy.

Aside from her excellent achievements in the corporate world, Jane Nkechi Egerton-Idehen is, also, a renowned speaker and has shared her insights at prestigious events like TEDxYouth@Ho 2017 and she has been celebrated as one of Nigeria’s “50 Leading Ladies in Corporate Nigeria”, by Leading Ladies Africa, in recognition of her contribution to the corporate growth of Nigeria.

She is also an erudite author. She is the author of “Be Fearless: Give Yourself Permission To Be You”, through which she has inspired many, especially, women to excel in STEM fields.

We hope to see new initiatives at NIGCOMSAT, as she gets down to brass tacks.
