One of the things we love doing at TECHwithCFA.com is objectively reviewing gadgets and devices that manufacturers send our way. Recently, we received the Zinox iPowerPlus 2KVA/24V inverter designed and developed by the Zinox Technologies Group, one of Nigeria’s most respected technology companies.

Below is our review after using the inverter for over 3 months:

Overview

iPowerplus Solution 1We would like to start by saying this is sexiest inverter we have seen yet, we were quite impressed with the robust design that comes with a Crystal clear LED display for easy operation. This compact design is packed with an array of exclusive features but will not take up much space in your home which is very unlike other 2KVA inverters that look bigger and bulkier. So a big thumbs up to the the developers at Zinox Technologies Group, for paying particular attention creating a compact yet powerful inverter that will be compatible with most household sizes in the country.

Technology

The iPowerPlus 2KVA/24V runs on a pure sine wave technology. It is well shielded from short-circuits and overload complications with automated tripping off when the batteries get to the threshold. It is a hybrid system with an in-built solar charge controller that has a complementary in-built cooling system comprising of heat zinc and fans.

Another plus for the Zinox team is that inverter makes very little compared to many others we have come across.

Other features

The iPowerPlus 2KVA/24V is compatible with both mains voltage and generator power. It interfaces with the utility electricity in the home to provide power through solar panels and seamlessly resolve any power interruptions that may occur.

iPowerplus Solution 2It includes other features such as:

  • A smart battery charger that optimizes battery performance
  • Selectable charging current depending on the applications
  • Selectable input voltage range
  • Configurable solar/AC input priority
  • Auto restart while AC recovers
  • A perfect alarming system

We must point out that the transition from mains to generator and vice versa is very seamless and usually occurs without you even noticing it except you are close by the inverter.

A highly commendable step by Zinox is the 24 hours customer service helpline to serve clients and this is very evident as the helpline is written boldly on the inverter – another innovative step in our opinion.

Domestic Uses

It comes with 2 batteries. At techsmart.ng, we tried the iPowerPlus 2KVA/24V for household use and found it to effectively powered up to 10 energy saving bulbs, 3 fans, 2 TVs, 1 sound system, 2 Laptops, Printer and up to 6 phones and yet it lasted for over 2 days which is quite impressive.

Further Improvement

Every now and then the inverter fan increases its speed and produces an obvious sound, we observe that this happens only when a high current equipment such as a pressing iron is plugged in which we find unacceptable. Eventhough there is technical explanation for that, we believe that further additions should produce little or no noise irrespective of the pressure on the inverter or better still find another way to communicate it than the increased fan noise.

Verdict

The Zinox iPowerplus solution comes highly recommended and the fact that it has various capacities makes it easier to make a choice irrespective of your income or location. Investing in an inverter is indeed a wise choice and you can’t go wrong with the iPowerplus solution.
