In the next three decades, half of the world’s population could be out of jobs, this is due to the exponential advancements in cybernetics and artificial intelligence, experts have warned.
Moshe Vardi, Computer Science Professor, Rice University, Texas says intelligent machines will take over jobs across various fields, such as driving and even sex workers.
He says robots would replace human beings in different professions, which would immensely affect the landscape of human productivity. He predicts that both men and women would be equally affected in the future.
“We are approaching a time when machines will be able to outperform humans at almost any task. I believe that society needs to confront this question before it is upon us: if machines are capable of doing almost any work humans can do, what will humans do? Vardi told American Association for Advancement of Science in a meeting.
With technology being a major factor that has transformed most developed nations alongside its positive impacts. The Computer Science Professor was inquisitive to figure out the general notion that technological advancements are always helpful to humans.

He says that a life of complete leisure, which will most likely become a reality by 2045, will not be conducive to global economy and human productivity in general.
“I do not find this a promising future, as I do not locate the prospect of leisure-only life appealing,” he said and added, “I believe that work is essential to human well being” Vardi added.
“There’s a need for concerted action to keep technology a good servant and not let it become a bad master. Robots and AI may take 50% human jobs in 30 years, says Wendell Wallach, an Ethicist, Yale University’s Interdisciplinary Center for Bioethics and the Hastings Center.
According to Elon Musk democratizing this artificial intelligence will make for a better outcome. “If AI power is spread to the point that we can link AI power to each’s will. You would have your AI agent; everybody would have their AI agent. Then if somebody did try to something terrible, then the collective will of others could overcome that bad actor,” Musk said.
